Somewhere between the coastal fish landing site and the hungry child in a high-malnutrition village, a disconnect persists. Aquatic foods rich in protein and micronutrients exist in abundance, yet they rarely land where they are most needed. At Nutriee Fish, we’re solving this disconnect not by scaling scarcity, but by rethinking access.
Nutriee Fish transforms whole, underutilized fish from small-scale farmers into a shelf-stable, nutrient-dense powder that delivers protein, omega-3s, and bioavailable micronutrients, three critical pillars of nutrition often missing in staple-based diets. With a shelf life of up to one year, no need for refrigeration, and zero synthetic additives, this is not just food innovation. It is food equity, engineered for resilience.
And yet, this is more than just a story about fish powder. It is a behavioral shift camouflaged in flavor. We understand that nutrition is cultural, and so we designed seven flavored variants from chili, barbeque, to lemon-herb, to speak the local tongue of taste. Where others deliver supplements that end up unused, we deliver flavor that becomes a habit. Nutriee Fish is not asking communities to change their food culture. We are joining it, respectfully and intelligently.
Gender equity is the invisible engine in our business model. Through our partnership with AWFBEK (Association of Women in Fisheries & Blue Economy Kenya), over 500 women across the fish
value chain are being empowered as producers, processors, and nutrition entrepreneurs. By off-taking fish at 5 months rather than the typical 8–10, we ease production costs for farmers — 6 out of 10 of whom are women — and create a circular win: faster income for producers, more affordable inputs for processing, and cheaper nutrition for the market.
We are now piloting fish powder in school meals across high-stunting counties. This is where innovation meets public nutrition. Early data show improved appetite, reduced plate waste, and increased protein uptake. Imagine a future where school lunch doesn’t rely on costly meat or imports but on sustainable, locally sourced aquatic protein. That is what we are building; one meal at a time.
At its core, Nutriee Fish exists because we believe nutrition should never be a luxury or a lottery. Aquatic foods hold an underestimated power to feed the present while regenerating the future. We are not just distributing powder. We are restoring agency. We are shifting power.
We are feeding a continent, but through design.
