Aquatic Foods Community of Practice – up and running

The Aquatic Foods Community of Practice (Aquatic Foods CoP) has been officially launched and progress is well underway to collate, contextualize, and promote the plethora of new information coming out on the nutrient composition of aquatic foods.

Resources we would like to highlight so far include an infographic, developed with input from several other collaborators, that explains the differences between the aquatic foods’ nutrient composition databases. This infographic guides researchers and policymakers on where to get the most up-to-date and relevant information to meet their needs.

Other current activities of the CoP include providing support to the ongoing 3-year project to update the FAO/INFOODS uFiSh database with the next version containing more information on the nutrient composition of small indigenous species, processed fish (e.g., smoked, salted, and dried), and aquatic plant species.

Watch for Aquatic Foods CoP resources such as a webinar on data gaps and methodologies for collecting nutrient composition data, and more resources on aquatic foods nutrient composition (e.g., critical resources in the form of published papers or reports) shared on the soon-to-be-updated FAO/INFOODs webpage. In the meantime, please check out our Open Science Framework page, where we are currently populating relevant resources.

Stay tuned!
