The Global Action Network Action Plan includes arranging annual meetings, workshops and events, recognizing interested parties, and establishing connections to promote collaboration and interaction among cross-sectorial actors focusing on the important elements for food security from Healthy Waters to Healthy People. |

Introducing Budstikke
The Global Action Network is launching a budstikke, a traditional wooden stick used to carry important messages. Through this effort, we aim to encourage boundary-crossing and spur actions to include aquatic foods as a key source for achieving food security and improving nutrition. |

2025 UN Ocean Conference Event
On 9 June 2025, we organised a mini conference under UNOC3. This event entitled "The Ocean We Depend On - Achieving SDG 14 Through Sustainable Governance" took place on the Norwegian tall ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl. The event celebrated longstanding ocean partnerships, joining forces to ensure sustainability in environmental, economic and social dimensions, and highlighted the importance of ocean governance for human prosperity protecting the role of the ocean as a source of food security, income and livelihood. |

One Ocean Science Congress Town Hall Event
On 5 June 2025, we co-organised the OOSC Town Hall event entitled "Optimising the potential of aquatic food systems - Science needs for a Blue Transformation" to integrate knowledge systems with a focus on responsibility and respect for the ocean. |

The Power of Small Things
A WorldFish school feeding pilot in Assam, India added powdered small fish to student meals to improve nutrition. The initiative builds on decades of research into aquatic foods and their potential to combat malnutrition using sustainable, locally available species. |

‘From Information to Implementation’ – Celebrating 10 Years of the Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FiTI)
In June 2025, the Fisheries Transparency Initiative celebrated a decade of promoting transparency and good governance in fisheries management. To mark this milestone, representatives from partner countries, civil society, non-governmental organizations, the BMZ, and the GIZ gathered to reflect on the past 10 years and look forward to the future of transparent fisheries management. |

Transforming Cambodia's Post-harvest Fisheries Through CAPFISH-Capture, Aiming for EU Export Market
Cambodia's fisheries sector, crucial for millions, faces challenges like limited competitiveness, technology, financing, and market access. UNIDO's CAPFISH-Capture project, co-funded by the EU, supports the Fisheries Competent Authority (FCA) in implementing food safety systems and promotes innovation, safety, and inclusivity. Aiming for EU market approval by 2026, the project seeks to boost exports, growth, and sustainability. |
