Demystifying the Nutritional Power of Aquatic Foods
Global Action Network is glad to co-organise this exciting N4G Paris side event together with Aquatic Blue Food Coalition, Meridian Institute, Walton Family Foundation, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Global Seaweed Coalition, Stanford Center for Ocean Solutions, Oceana, and WorldFish. The multi-sectorial experts will highlight how diverse aquatic foods can address malnutrition and its impacts like stunting while supporting sustainable and equitable food systems, highlighting aquatic food’s scalable role as a key source of essential nutrients. |

International CoP on Nutrient Composition of Aquatic Foods Meeting
Aquatic foods have a lower environmental impact compared with terrestrial animal-source foods. Yet aquatic ecosystems are often monitored from an environmental or economic perspective, overlooking their contributions to global nutrition and public health. The Global Action Network Food Composition Data working group, together with other international experts (CoP), assesses and explores the previously unknown links between SGDs, aquatic food composition databases, and data quality. |

Article on essential and hazardous element contents in marine fish
Researchers from the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research investigated the variability in the nutrient and contaminant contents and associated drivers based on ~15,700 fish collected between 2010-2020 from the Northeast Atlantic Ocean. This study highlighted the importance of understanding the variability in current seafood composition data to help address issues such as malnutrition. |

The EAF-Nansen Programme celebrated its 50th anniversary aboard the research vessel Dr. Fridtjof Nansen in Durban, South Africa. The event highlighted five decades of advancing marine research and sustainable fisheries management, featuring representatives from FAO, Norway, South Africa's Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, local experts, and students. |

Tuna Welfare Factsheet launched
Aquatic Life Institute has recently launched a Tuna Welfare Factsheet, addressing the welfare gaps in one of the world's most valuable and widespread fisheries. Despite the tuna industry's multi-billion dollar scale, animal welfare remains largely overlooked. Implementing welfare policies could significantly enhance the lives of billions of fish each year. To encourage businesses to take action, our factsheet provides clear, practical recommendations for meaningful change. |
