The Global Action Network Action Plan includes arranging annual meetings, workshops and events, recognizing interested parties, and establishing connections to promote collaboration and interaction among cross-sectorial actors focusing on the important elements for food security from Healthy Waters to Healthy People. |

Network Meeting 2024 - Summary
We held our Annual Network Meeting in connection with CFS 52 in October. This was a hybrid meeting with in-person participation at FAO headquarters and virtual attendance via Zoom, bringing together 177 registrants from 56 countries and representatives from the EU and UN. Participants included members of government, institutions, NGOs, and industry.

The Global Action Network will continuously identify challenges, exchange knowledge and solutions related to the key elements of food security. Through the Gain and Share Tool, you can gain and share knowledge to promote sustainable food from the oceans and inland waters for food security and nutrition.

EAF-Nansen Programme Celebrates World Fisheries Day in Dakar
The FAO/Norway EAF-Nansen Programme celebrated World Fisheries Day 2024 in Dakar, Senegal, with an event at Cheikh Anta Diop University. Featuring 190 participants, including 140 students, the event highlighted sustainable fisheries' role in food security, livelihoods, and marine health. Discussions, a documentary screening, and expert panels emphasized collaboration and education in fisheries management. |

WorldFish Promoting Nutrition-Sensitive Aquaculture in India through Small Indigenous Fish Species (SIS)
WorldFish, through a BMZ and GIZ funded project, has successfully developed simple and replicable techniques for mass seed production of several SIS including mola (Amblypharyngodon mola) through hatchery-based induced breeding followed by nursery rearing and grow-out culture for advancing nutrition-sensitive aquaculture in India. Business models are being developed for commercialization and upscaling of seed production and distribution network. |

Nigeria is a developing nation committed to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). There is limited information on geographical indications of SDG 12-Responsible Consumption and Production of Ilaje coastal fishing communities, Ondo state, Nigeria. This study assessed the geographical indications of such SDG there. |
