The committee will review experiences with labour immigration policy and assess the need for changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee has been asked to summarise existing knowledge and discuss a number of issues set out in its mandate. The four main topics the committee will discuss are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-layout-flow wp-block-list-is-layout-flow\">\n<li>To what extent can and should foreign labour and labour immigration help meet labour shortages, in the short and long term?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What are the possible consequences of labour immigration for working life and society?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are we able to recruit the foreign labour we need?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is there a need to rethink labour immigration policy?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee consists of 11 experts and representatives of the social partners, and will be chaired by Thomas von Brasch. He is a research economist at Statistics Norway, where he is head of Business Cycle Analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee will submit its report as a Norwegian Official Report (NOU) to the Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion around the turn of the year 2027\/2028.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Labour Immigration Committee was appointed by the Government on 5 June 2026.
