The second case was the planned copper mine in Kvalsund, with a particular focus on the human rights implications of these projects and their effects on the S\u00e1mi people\u2019s reindeer herding class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mariann Gr\u00e5ik, Jijnjevaerie Sameby<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Concrete examples of how conflicts and dialogue are dealt with in practice were presented, both from the business perspective and from the impacted S\u00e1mi communities, and from community representatives who were in favor of the projects and those that were against.\u00a0 Challenges, lessons learnt and best practices for responsible business conduct and consultation with Indigenous peoples on mitigation measures were also discussed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full launched the Norwegian and\u00a0<a class=\"jive-link-external-small\" href=\"https:\/\/www.responsiblebusiness.no\/nyheter\/veileder-for-interessentdialog-i-utvinningssektoren-pa-samisk-og-norsk\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">S\u00e1mi language versions\u00a0<\/a>of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement in the Extractive Sector.<\/p>\n<p>The guidance contains a chapter on
